SkateFITness Clinic


Our skate fitness class is a 6 to 12 mile skate clinic with built-in skate technique and group skate strategy exercises operating May through September.


We skate the Dakota Rail Regional Trail, a spectacular trail beginning in the City of Wayzata leading to fantastic views of Lake Minnetonka.


Beginner 3 (OSB3) and above

What we Learn:
  • Trail negotiation techniques;

  • New skate skills such as t-drags, advanced brakeless braking techniques and advanced turns such as the lunge turn, parallel ski turns and forward crossovers;

  • Skating for fitness – warm up, active stretch (on skates) cardiovascular fitness, anaerobic fitness and cool downs;

  • How to skate in groups (pace lines);  and,

  • Technique, efficiency and power in Strides- the classic, power and double push.

  • Individualized instruction;

  • Small group learning;

  • Highly experienced instruction from Master Trainer;

  • Assistance navigating trail hazards;

  • Increase cardiovascular and sport-specific muscular  fitness;

  • Develop stride efficiency and power

  • Building self-esteem;

  • Building community – find others to skate / train with;

  • Building confidence.

Where we Meet:

We park in T&T Boatwork’s parking lot at 220 Grove Lane E.  We gather in the parking lot lane closest to the boat slips.  From the boat slips we begin our trail skate for fitness class.
