Social Skate on Newly Minted Munger Trail
Experience Munger Trail is a group trail skate and ride to highlight the newly paved Munger Trail sections here in Duluth, Minnesota. Let’s get outside, enjoy the spring weather, and get some exercise on this scenic and fun trail! Experience Munger Trail is a FREE event and everyone is encouraged to join us–skaters, cyclists, runners, and even baby strollers!
In the historic Duluth flood in 2012, portions of the Munger Trail were washed out and in rough shape for years. Sections were gravel, bad pavement, and really impassible for inline skates. In late 2017, crews finished repaving 5 miles from Grand Avenue to Beck’s Road. We are so thankful for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for completing this huge project.
The Group Skate is Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Duluth beginning at the Northern Trailhead of Willard Munger State Trail behind the Willard Munger Inn. The cross streets are Grand Ave., (Hwy 23) and Grand 75th Ave W.
The skate begins at 10AM followed by a Mother’s Day Brunch at Clyde Iron Works.
